'Sensational' - Exclusive: Danny Mills reacts to £154,000-a-wk reported Leeds offer
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is well-deserving of a new and improved contract offer from the club, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Elland Road defender lavished praise on the Argentine for the “sensational” job that he has done since arriving in Yorkshire two seasons ago.
The Whites secured their return to the Premier League on Friday after a 16-year absence when West Brom dropped points against Huddersfield Town, and were then crowned champions when Brentford slipped up against Stoke City the day after.
As a reward for his success, The Sun report that Leeds are willing to offer the 64-year-old a bumper £8 million-a-year contract – equivalent to £154,000-a-week – and a deal that would represent an annual pay rise of £2 million.
And while Mills has emphasised the fact that Bielsa is not motivated by money, he has also reiterated just how impressive his achievements with the Whites have been.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “It was a big gamble when they first took him on, and it was a big investment in the manager, but I think we’ve seen how modest he is.

“When you saw on Friday night, when the fans were at his rented flat, he’s a very humble guy.
“It’s not about money for him, it’s about success – and that’s really refreshing.
“I think he has been sensational. It’s absolutely phenomenal what he’s done and what he has achieved.”
Bielsa’s contract extension, should he sign it, would see him stay at Elland Road until at least 2022.
The Sun report that only a few minor points need addressing before the Argentine would be willing to put pen to paper.
