Sergio Reguilon 'might have played his last game for Tottenham' after latest twist - pundit
Sergio Reguilon “might have played his last game for Tottenham”, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Antonio Conte would not stand in the way of the 25-year-old leaving this summer.
Conte, as quoted by the Press Association’s Jonathan Veal on Twitter (5 May), revealed the Spanish defender’s season could be over after suffering a groin injury.
As revealed by Football Insider last month (28 April), Spurs are open to offers for Reguilon this summer and a Spanish club have registered their interest.
Whelan admitted the left-back’s career in north London could be over.
Asked if he thought Reguilon may have played his last game for Spurs, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Yeah. I think that’s a possibility.

“There are players that Conte’s assessed, players that he wants, players he’s inherited when he came into the club. We know that he’s going to want his own players.
“That’s been a real issue, that wing-back role, for Tottenham and Antonio Conte. He’s never really been truly convinced by the wing-backs that he’s got.
“He doesn’t seem to trust one to be playing week in, week out and be his number one. I think there’s an issue there for him.
“If Reguilon’s out until the end of the season, there could be a big cause there to say that he may have played his last game for Tottenham.
“If an offer comes in, I don’t think Antonio Conte will stand in his way. I think Tottenham will give him the resources and leverage to go out and sell and bring in who he wants.”
