Paddy Kenny excited as 'huge' Berge plan revealed at Sheffield United
Sander Berge would be a “huge” player for Sheffield United next season if Slavisa Jokanovic is successful in convincing him to stay.
That is according to ex-Blades goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the manager made his stance on the 20-year-old midfielder’s situation known.
Quoted by Yorkshire Live on 4th July, the newly-appointed boss said: “the first time I speak with him I will encourage him to stay with us.”
Berge, who signed a four-and-a-half-year deal upon joining for £22million in January 2020, has been linked with Arsenal and Napoli among others.
Kenny claimed that Jokanovic has a difficult task on his hand in convincing the 24-cap Norway international to stay at Bramall Lane.
“If he did stay, it would be huge,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“But given the standard of the clubs that are after him, I’m sure his head is going to be turned. We’re talking about the likes of Arsenal and other big clubs abroad.
“If Sheffield United can keep hold of him he’d be a massive player for them next season. We’ll see what happens.
“If Jokanovic can work his magic and persuade him to stay, every Sheffield United fan will be happy.”
Berge missed the bulk of last season with a severe hamstring injury as the Blades were relegated to the Championship.
He managed 16 appearances over the course of the campaign on top of another 16 after joining at the midpoint of 2019-20.
