Sheffield United open Southampton talks to sign Samuel Edozie – sources

Sheffield United are in talks to sign Southampton winger Samuel Edozie on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

The South Yorkshire club see the 21-year-old as a potential key player as they push for promotion back to the Premier League.

However, they have their work cut out for them with sources saying Edozie isn’t keen on dropping down to English football’s second tier.

The attacking midfielder has come off of the bench in each of Southampton’s Premier League games so far this season, playing just 64 minutes.

Sheffield United need to convince Southampton star Samuel Edozie to join

The ex-Man City academy graduate made the move from his boyhood club to St Mary’s back in 2022 and has since made 63 appearances, scored six goals, and provided three assists.

Edozie is yet to establish himself as a first-team regular at the South Coast club, just 17 of his 36 appearances last season came from the starting whistle.

It’s been a relatively underwhelming start for Sheffield United back in the Championship so far this season, winning just once in their opening three games.

Football Insider revealed (August 30) that Brighton are keen on star man Oliver Arblaster should Billy Gilmour decide to leave the club before the end of the transfer window.
