Sheffield United tipped to complete two new signings after ‘ridiculous development’ – pundit

Paddy Kenny is expecting Sheffield United to sign two players before the January transfer window shuts.

The former Blades stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists his former side’s draw with Preston shows improvements need to be made.

On Tuesday night, Sheffield United threw away a two-goal lead as they drew with Preston at Deepdale.

This left the Blades nine points off the play-off places ahead of Saturday’s (22 January) game against Luton Town.

Kenny insists his former side need new recruits if they are to push on and challenge for a play-off place.

“Throwing the game away was terrible, we just need a bit more quality,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“We need to make sure those draws turn into wins because this has happened far too many times this season.

“There needs to be a bit of steel in that midfield, I think that’s where we are lacking.

“It’s ridiculous how many games we are drawing after throwing away goals at the end.

“I think we are a little bit of quality away from avoiding those results and pushing up the table.

“I hope those signings do arrive, I would be surprised if we didn’t, considering the aim has to be a place in the play-offs now.

“I think there is time to get two players in, we definitely need something in that midfield.

“Fingers crossed we get something done before the end of the window.”
