Sheffield United tipped to rocket up the table after ‘unbelievable’ thing I’ve seen – Kenny

Paddy Kenny predicts Sheffield United will be firmly in the Championship play-off spots by mid-January.

The former Blades stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, has been blown away by the club’s recent performances.

Sheffield United’s good form under Paul Heckingbottom continued on Monday (20 December) night as they beat Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage.

This leaves the Blades 11th in the Championship but only three points off the play-off spots.

Heckingbottom’s side also have a game in hand on the majority of sides above them in the table.

Kenny is feeling positive about his former side’s chances over the coming weeks.

“We are meant to have had a really bad season,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It shows you how crazy the Championship is. We have a game in hand and if we win that we could be right up there.

“Beating Fulham was unbelievable. We also now have three or four games coming up that are very winnable.

“We have the momentum under the new manager and I really think we could find ourselves in a very positive position come mid-January.

“I just look at the fixtures and see wins. The squad is ticking and everything seems to be going right.

“We look solid at the back and that is the key to success. Like the Fulham game, we scored once and got the job done.”

The Blades are set to welcome Hull to Bramall Lane on Wednesday (29 December).

The Tigers are 19th in the Championship as it stands.

In other news, pundit ‘sure’ Heckingbottom has been given transfer ‘guarantee’ by Sheffield United ahead of January.
