Shock Heck revelation about £4.5m Leeds player proves why club are nowhere near play-offs
COMMENT
Leeds United’s recruitment over the last year has been nothing short of abysmal and there was a big reminder straight after Friday’s 2-1 in against Bolton when Paul Heckingbottom shockingly revealed that Adam Forshaw’s injury issue was known about when he signed.
Forshaw, 26, swapped Middlesbrough for Leeds in the January transfer window after signing off on a £4.5million deal.
The midfielder has been one of the Whites’ better players despite their alarming slide down the table, however it is worth noting that the Yorkshire giants have not won a game with the ex-Brentford player has been on the pitch.
Forshaw missed the 4-3 loss to Millwall just two days after signing or United due to a calf injury, which has continued to trouble him.
Should this not be something that is checked out in a medical? And as Heckingbottom made it clear to the Yorkshire Evening Post that it was an issue that was made aware of, then why did Victor Orta and Thomas Christiansen give the £4.5million deal to go ahead?
It is really no wonder why Leeds are nowhere near the play-off spots this season with shoddy decision making like this.
Tyler Roberts has not even got anywhere near the first-team after signing from West Brom with an injury as well, meaning all three of Leeds’ permanent transfers in January have spent time on the sidelines already.
January is such an important month for a team going for promotion because it is imperative that players are signed who are raring to go.
Just look at what Aleksandar Mitrovic has done at Fulham. That could have been Leeds if Andrea Radrizzani did not have headless chickens sorting out the club’s transfers.
There has to be a major chance in the summer, at every level of the club otherwise Leeds will be facing a relegation battle next term rather than a push for promotion.
