Sidiki Cherif ‘done deal’ as Crystal Palace ‘hijack’ claim emerges on day of paperwork

Crystal Palace have been on the hunt for a new forward in the final days of the transfer window.

With Jean-Philippe Mateta angling for a move away from Selhurst Park, a new attacker is needed now more than ever.

While Evann Guessand has since joined the Eagles, there could be potential for further additions.

Palace are reportedly in the race for Jorgen Strand Larsen’s signature, but it remains to be seen if they sign the Wolves star after pulling out of a £50million deal.

Another player linked is Sidiki Cherif, who now appears to be set to join Fenerbahce.

Sidiki Cherif to Fenerbahce a ‘done deal’

Cherif has impressed in Ligue 1 for Angers this season, with the 19-year-old netting four times in the division to date.

While the winger is still young, he clearly possesses plenty of promising traits, which have led to him being wanted by numerous clubs.

Earlier in the window, Cherif was linked with a surprise switch to Wrexham as they look to win promotion to the Premier League.

However, Sky Sports reported Florian Plettenberg has now confirmed via X that Cherif to Fenerbahce is a “done deal”.

A verbal agreement has been reached with Anger to sign the winger on loan with an obligation to buy for £17.1million.

Cherif chose the Turkish side over numerous other clubs, including Crystal Palace, and the deal is now expected to be completed as long as no hijack occurs.

What other deals could Crystal Palace complete before deadline day?

Football Insider recently revealed that Crystal Palace are among a number of Premier League clubs tracking Dundee United sensation Charlie Dewar.

The Eagles have registered interest in the 18-year-old centre-back and view the youngster as a long-term target.

However, there could also be further sales at Selhurst Park. Adam Warton is subject to heavy interest after continuing to impress under Oliver Glasner.

While bids are expected in the summer, Palace are refusing to part with Wharton this transfer window, with many of their star players already on their way out mid-season.

However, it remains to be seen what business the Eagles complete in the coming days, as they look to return to form after a dire few weeks at the Croydon club.
