Everton have been linked with a sensational move to bring Wayne Rooney back to the club this summer – and fans on Twitter have given their stamp of approval.
Rooney, 31, remains firmly in the hearts of the Everton supporters, due to his exploits with the Merseyside club as a teenager.
He made his debut for the club at the tender age of 16, and went on to score 17 goals from 77 appearances before sealing a £25.6million move to Manchester United in 2004.
Reports in the media have recently emerged that Rooney is growing increasingly unsettled at Old Trafford this season, and could be on his way back to Everton in the summer.
Meanwhile, both Everton manager Ronald Koeman and director of football Steve Walsh have publicly declared their interest in signing him, leaving fans drooling at the prospect of being reunited with the club favourite.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Rooney has been restricted to just 18 starts from his 29 appearances in all competitions this term, with United chief Jose Mourinho preferring the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in his place.
He has not completed the full 90 minutes in a Premier League match for the club this season since September.
In other Everton transfer news, this emerging PL star has reportedly caught the eye of the Everton recruitment team.
