Simon Jordan hits out at Newcastle fans, compares them with Leeds supporters
By Amir Mir
Simon Jordan has hit out at Newcastle fans by stating they think finishing high up in the Premier League should result in them “winning it”.
The former Crystal Palace owner compared them with Leeds supporters who he called “realistic” unlike the Toon Army faithful.
Newcastle are currently managed by former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez who has guided the north-east club to the top of the Championship table.
By contrast, the Whites are fourth in the table and just like Benitez’ side, they are hoping to make a return to the Premier League.
When a Magpies supporter slated Leeds for not being able to sell out their home games, this was Jordan’s response.

“Maybe, but at least Leeds have realistic fans unlike your lot,” Jordan responded. “You think if you finish high up in the Premier League you should then win it.”

The Whites have not tasted top-flight football for 13 years, while Newcastle were recently relegated from the Premier League for the second time in eight years last term.
Nonetheless, it is Benitez’ side who top the table with 77 points from their 36 games, 12 points ahead of the Yorkshire club who sit in fourth.
The duo met earlier on in the campaign at Elland Road when Dwight Gayle was the difference maker in his side’s 2-0 win.
They are set to clash once again on April 14, this time at St James’ Park which will be a crucial encounter with the Championship title race and a top six finish up for grabs.
