It should have been done six months ago - Rodgers furious Celtic have not wrapped up deal

Brendan Rodgers has aired his frustrations as midfielder Stuart Armstrong’s Celtic contract situation remains unresolved.
The 25-year-old’s contract with the Hoops expires next summer, and the Glaswegian club have failed to extend his current deal.
His manager, Rodgers, has vented his annoyance around the situation and stated that Armstrong’s contract should have been sorted out at the beginning of the year.
The Bhoys boss said: “That’s one of the frustrations of this, for me, because it’s such a simple deal. Six months ago it should have been organised, sorted and done.”
Rodgers is worried that the lack of development in his contract extension is impacting on his performance on the pitch and is affecting the midfielder’s confidence.

“What worried me the other day was that I saw something in a player that I hadn’t seen from back when I first came in,” Rodgers explained, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times. “Just a lack of confidence, nothing behaviourally.
“It’s just when you see someone’s confidence being effected.
“When you see a sort of nervousness when he made a pass, I’ve known him long enough now. I saw what he was when I came in and I watched him grow and develop.
“Then I see where he is now.”
Armstrong initially moved to Parkhead from Dundee United back in February 2015 and has grown immensely under Rodgers’ leadership.
Last season, the midfielder was one of the key driving forces behind the club’s domestic treble success, particularly in the final months of the season.
During the Hoops’ 2016/17 campaign the Scottish playmaker made a total of 47 appearances across all competitions, where he netted 17 goals and provided seven assists for the Glaswegian club.
Rodgers will want the club to lock down the attacker soon, so the Bhoys don’t lose Armstrong for free next year.
Celtic have already had a strong start to the season after winning all of their competitive matches so far, and the boss won’t want anything to jeopardise that.
In the mean time, the Hoops are also running out of time to re-sign Patrick Roberts, who is already been confirmed by Rodgers to have been a target of his summer.
