Sky Sports: Proven top-flight attacker wants move to Rangers
By Harvey Byrne
Hearts right-winger Jamie Walker wants a move to Rangers before Thursday’s transfer cut-off, according to a report.
Popular broadcasters Sky Sports have claimed via their live transfer blog (Wednesday, 5.42pm) that the 24-year-old attacker is keen on a move to Glasgow, despite the Edinburgh-based club’s refusal to budge on their £1million valuation, which the Gers are unwilling to meet.
The Sky report comes after long links to Walker throughout the summer for Rangers and the Glasgow Evening Times claimed on Wednesday morning that the Scottish giants would only submit a fresh bid if Hearts lowered their seven-figure valuation.
However, there were no mentions of Walker himself wanting the transfer to Rangers and that could provide Hearts the push needed to bring down their asking price.
Walker is a proven performer in the Scottish top-flight, returning 25 goals and 14 assists in 108 matches in the Premiership during his six years at Hearts, but alongside wanting a move to Rangers he is also into the final year of his contract at Tynecastle and is unwilling to extend it.

Football Insider verdict:
After Rangers’ slow start to the Premiership campaign which has seen a number of their foreign imports this summer still needing time to settle a player who has proven capable to play in the Scottish top-flight could be the perfect addition to round up a busy summer for the Glasgow side. In the last campaign without links with Rangers distracting him Walker managed a return of 15 goals and seven assists in 43 matches in all competitions and if he can bring that sort of form with him to Glasgow then he could turn out to be key.
