Sky Sports journalist: Newcastle to hold critical transfer talks on Wednesday over hitman

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez will hold critical transfer talks with managing director Lee Charnley on Wednesday to discuss a move for a new striker, according to a journalist.
Sky Sports news presenter Pete Graves has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Magpies duo will meet imminently as they look to bring a new forward to St James’ Park, with Feyenoord’s Nicolai Jorgensen said to be the top target.

However, the Dutch side are reportedly demanding a record breaking £20million-plus for the 27-year-old, who has scored nine goals in 19 appearances across all competitions, and that the Magpies are now looking at other options to bolster their forward line.
It has been claimed by the Daily Mail that the north east side have already tabled a £14million bid for the Danish international but that the approach was rejected and that they would have to increase their offer by £6million to stand any chance of securing his services.
Newcastle are looking to improve their options up front after netting just 22 Premier League goals this season, making them among the lowest scorers in the top flight.
However while the Magpies are looking to bring players in, Graves reports that departures from St James’ Park look unlikely but that there is interest in a handful of their players, which could result in moves being made as the end of the January window edges closer.
In other Newcastle United transfer news, the Magpies have been named favourites to secure the capture of an experienced international forward.
