Sky Sports pundit claims Liverpool ace is on par with Aguero

By Dominic Toner

Dean Saunders believes that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is up there with Sergio Aguero for talent in England.

Manchester City forward Aguero is recognised as one of the best players in the Premier League and has been sensational since he moved to England in 2011.

The 28-year-old has made 227 appearances for Man City in all competitions and scored a remarkable 152 goals in return.

Liverpool also have their own natural finisher in their squad, but Sturridge is currently fighting for a starting position.

The 27-year-old is behind team-mate Roberto Firmino in the pecking order and has started just half of his 12 appearances this season.

Sky Sports pundit Saunders claims that Sturridge does have same similar ability as Aguero despite his recent struggles.

“I think Sturridge is up there with Aguero, talent wise,” Saunders said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “Firmino has been playing up the middle for Liverpool because he is better at getting the ball back.

“Sturridge, for real cutting edge and hurting you as a striker, is up there with the best,”

Sturridge has made 104 appearances for the Reds since he moved to Anfield in 2013 and scored 58 goals.

The England international is currently trying to impress manager Jurgen Klopp and force his way into the staring XI.

However, the German boss is keen on a high work-rate from all his players and that does not match Sturridge’s game.

Chelsea and Man City both decided to part ways with Sturridge during his time as a youngster and he has certainly found a home at Anfield, but needs to return to his best form if he is to showcase his talent regularly.

In other Liverpool news, John Aldridge has predicted the club’s upcoming match against Stoke.
