Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has said that Wolves’ 1-0 victory against Cardiff City last time out and the fact that they withstood two late penalties, shows that “it’s their year.”
The former Nottingham Forest and Leeds United midfielder also predicted a 2-0 victory against Derby County at Molineux on Wednesday with Ruben Neves to get his name on the scoresheet for the second game running.
The 21-year-old scored a superb free-kick against Neil Warnock’s men to put Wolves within touching distance of the Championship title.
It was a game that was overshadowed by a furious Warnock, who was unhappy with Nuno Espirito Santo’s post-match celebrations and allowed his frustration to over boil.
Prutton delivered his prediction on Sky Sports and said: “What a big win that was for Wolves against Cardiff on Friday night. To survive two late penalties just shows that it’s their year and it shouldn’t be too long before they seal promotion and then the title.
“Derby have two wins in a row, which is massive for them after their poor run before that. They would rather go pretty much anywhere than Molineux at the moment, though. Home win for me.”
Football Insider verdict:
It would be difficult to see past anything other than a Wolves win here. Prutton is right – sometimes luck plays a massive role in football and having seen the way Cardiff passed up their penalty opportunities, you’d have to say the writing is on the wall and Wolves are just a stone’s-throw away from Premier League promotion. It won’t be easy against the Rams though, who are holding their own in the play off zone. Derby have one of the best defensive records in the Championship which means Nuno’s attack will need to be on song.
In other Wolves news, Wolves must axe 24-year-old and replace him with proven PL hitman after quit hint.
