Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that minnows Burton will hold Championship big guns Aston Villa to a draw at the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Prutton has made the shock prediction that the mid-week Championship showdown will end 1-1 even though Villa have a number of big-money signings on huge wages in the squad led by John Terry, and are 10 places ahead of the home side side in the league table.
Aston Villa most recently secured a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest at home, but the former Leeds midfielder believes that the Brewers will ensure that they don’t string together another victory in Staffordshire.
“Burton held QPR to a good draw at Loftus Road at the weekend, and you feel Nigel Clough would take a point in every away game this season,” Prutton wrote on the Sky Sports website.
“They’ll need to get their wins at home though if they want to survive.
“Aston Villa have had a couple of great wins in the league and it finally looks like Steve Bruce might be getting things right.
“But I think Burton will hold them to a draw.”
Steve Bruce’s side have now gone six games in the Championship without a loss and appear to be moving in the direction both the boss and fans have been longing for.
The Claret and Blues are currently sat in ninth position in the standings on 13 points after a mixed bag of results consisting of three wins, four frustrating draws and two losses earlier on in the campaign.
Burton are far behind Villa in the table and sit 10 positions lower than their Midlands rivals on just nine points.
Following Tuesday’s clash, Bruce will prepare his squad to host Bolton just four days later and will be hoping to continue his recent unbeaten streak in order to move closer to promotion to the top flight.
