West Ham have emerged as the favourites to sign KAS Eupen attacker Henry Onyekuru, according to a report.
Sky Sports claimed on their transfer centre blog (Wednesday, 2.18pm) that the Hammers are in pole position for the 20-year-old winger that has been tearing up the Belgian league.
It is understood that the Nigeria international will fly to England next week for talks and will hold discussions with Premier League clubs that are interested in his signature
The report details that seven top-flight English clubs are in talks to sign the highly rated youngster, including West Ham, Arsenal and Swansea.
Onyekuru was in sensational form last season and scored 24 goals in just 41 appearances for Belgian side Eupen.
The versatile winger can play on either flank and has been used in a more central role at times.
He is blessed with great pace and proved last season that he has an eye for goal, while also chipping in with nine assists.
Onyekuru is still at the early stages of his career, but already has 30 goals in just 60 senior appearances.
Football Insider verdit:
West Ham have the ambition of competing for the European spots and should be able to do so following their move to the fabulous London Stadium. However, they need a few top-class additions to their squad if they are do that and Slaven Bilic should be backed in the summer transfer market. Signing Onyekuru would be a major statement if they managed to beat off all the competitions for the youngster. The winger would give the Hammers some much needed ammunition in attack as they did lack a goal threat at times last season. West Ham would be an exciting proposition if they had a front four of Onyekuru, Andy Carroll, Andre Ayew and Manuel Lanzini.
In other West Ham transfer news, they are plotting a bid to sign a 27-goal striker.
