Solanke, Aina react to James Maddison’s ‘last’ message before Tottenham v Man United

Dominic Solanke and Nottingham Forest ace Ola Aina have reacted to a message from Tottenham star James Maddison on social media.

Spurs are preparing to take on Man United in the Europa League final in what could be the last game in at their club for whichever manager loses.

Ruben Amorim has been under immense pressure since taking over at Old Trafford midway through the season, whilst there has been plenty of reason to suggest the final could be Ange Postecoglou’s last game in charge.

The Australian boss has been under intense scrutiny thanks to the spectacular drop in both performances, and results, since an impressive fifth-placed finish in the Premier League last season.

The Europa League final may be a chance for redemption, but Postecoglou will be without several key players, including Dejan Kulusevski and Maddison.

James Maddison sends message to Tottenham fans

Ahead of the biggest match of Tottenham’s season, Maddison shared a video on Instagram, captioned: “One last push, together.”

The post was then liked by exit-linked Forest defender Aina and the Englishman’s Spurs teammate, Solanke, showing support for the injured former Leicester man.

Ange Postecoglou will struggle to replace creative James Maddison

Football Insider Verdict

Only Heung-min Son has bettered Maddison’s tally of seven assists for Tottenham this season, and the South Korean star has done so whilst scoring two fewer goals in three more starts.

Which is an issue, given that Pape Sarr’s two assists are the most provided by any other Spurs midfielder this season.

In the second leg of their Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt, Postecoglou used Kulusevski in a more central role to make up for the England international’s absence.

However, without the Swedish international available, the Tottenham midfield has an absence of creative talent to break down United’s five-man backline.

Instead, Postecoglou will likely focus on building down the flanks and using Pedro Porro’s strong attacking capabilities to find gaps in the Red Devils’ defence.
