‘Something’s not right’ at Liverpool after ‘crazy’ Salah update – pundit
Kevin Campbell has insisted “something’s not right” as Liverpool continue negotiations with Mohamed Salah about a new contract.
The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 29-year-old’s recent comments are “worrying”.
Salah told GQ on Tuesday (11 January) that he is not asking for “crazy stuff” in negotiations and insisted the situation is in the club’s hands.
As reported by the Telegraph yesterday (13 January), Liverpool are unwilling to meet his salary demands – with the Egyptian running out of avenues to convince the club to pay up.
This site revealed last year (25 October) that Salah wants wages of £500,000-a-week and a contract until 2026.
When asked about the winger’s comments, Campbell told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “Of course he’s applying pressure, why not?
“Listen, he’s their best player. He’s been outstanding, and probably the best player in the world for the last six months.
“What’s happening? If you’ve got someone like that at your club, you shouldn’t need to be negotiating that much.
“They should be talking with his agent now, finding out what he wants – and then the next thing Liverpool fans should be seeing is a photo of him with pen in hand, signing the contract.
“But I start worrying when he has to come out and say things like that. Something’s not right as far as I’m concerned.
“They may well work it out, but if they already know they’re going to do the deal and are maybe waiting until the summer – why not do it now?”

Salah has netted 23 goals in 26 Liverpool games this term.
His contract is set to expire in June 2023.
In other news, Liverpool “hot” on signing Jarrod Bowen and he is “keen” to join after late-night transfer mission.
