Son shares that he was scared of this Tottenham first teamer

Tottenham attacker Son Heung-min has revealed that he was once scared of teammate Victor Wanyama after coming up against him before the pair moved to north London.

The current Spurs first teamers first met each other at St. Marys during a pre-season friendly between Southampton and Bayer Leverkusen.

Then Saints striker Graziano Pelle ended up scoring past his own goalkeeper in the English side’s 1-0 defeat.

But, it was Wanyama, who Son was focused on and he has told that the Kenyan scared him during the match due to his domineering play.

“I was really a fan of Victor when he signed because when I was with Leverkusen and I played against Southampton, I saw him for the first time and he was a beast – I was scared to play against him,” told Son to the official Tottenham website.

“When he signed, everyone knew what he could do from when he played for Southampton and I enjoy watching him play. I think he’s done very well for us and he was very important during the season.”

Wanyama made the move to White Hart Lane a year after Son, joining last summer in an £11million deal from Southampton.

He slotted straight into Mauricio Pochettino’s team, building a fine partnership with Mousa Dembele in the middle which saw him play in 47 matches in all competitions during his debut campaign.

The 25-year-old will now be hoping for similar game time in the next campaign as Tottenham prepare to play in the Champions League for the second consecutive season alongside mounting a league challenge while playing their home matches at Wembley.

Meanwhile, Son had a fine season in the last campaign after a struggling first season at the club and he will hoping to improve again once the 2017-18 campaign gets underway.
