Sources: Arsenal end Man City bid to sign star after Bukayo Saka agrees terms

Arsenal believe they have ended Man City’s interest in Bukayo Saka by tying him down to a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League champions have had a long-time interest in the 21-year-old, but the Gunners have fended off any bids by agreeing to a new five-and-a-half year agreement.

Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (24 February) that Arsenal have agreed a contract extension with Saka until 2028 worth £57million and he has already put pen to paper on the deal.

The young winger is set to earn in excess of £200,000-a-week at The Emirates, placing him among the club’s highest earners.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta made Saka’s new contract a top priority at the club amid interest from City.

City manager Guardiola is a huge fan of the winger and has previously labelled Saka “incredible” and suggested he has a “bright future”.

But Saka has been attached to Arsenal since his childhood years after growing up in the Arsenal Hale End academy and spending 10 years in the youth system before bursting onto the scene with the first team.

His senior debut with the club came in 2018, and Saka has quickly grown to become one of Arsenal’s biggest stars.

His nine goals and eight assists this season have proved hugely important to Arsenal’s title challenge this season.

Saka has appeared in every Premier League game for the league leaders and played a full 90 minutes in the last 12 matches.
