Sources: Aston Villa plot raid to sign Ivan Toney

Aston Villa are eyeing up a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Toney is on the Villans’ radar as Unai Emery looks to add a new striker to his squad at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old is set to be the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs in the upcoming window and the Bees could lose their star man.

The England international will have two years left on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium at the end of the season after joining from Peterborough in 2020.

Last week (23 April), Football Insider revealed that United remain interested in the striker but have concerns over tabling a bid.

Erik ten Hag’s side are in the market for a new centre-forward this summer and are big admirers of Toney as they continue to monitor his availability.

But the Red Devils are concerned about submitting a bid for the goalscorer whilst his gambling investigation continues.

Toney has made 32 appearances for Thomas Frank’s side across all competitions this season and has scored 20 goals and provided five assists in those outings.

The striker has been impressing in the English top flight and earned his debut in Gareth Southgate’s England squad last month in their Euro qualifier against Ukraine.
