Sources: Blackpool reject Nottingham Forest bid for Josh Bowler amid ‘£4m’ update

Blackpool have rejected a £3.5million bid from Nottingham Forest for winger Josh Bowler, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship club are holding out for £4million for the 23-year-old.

Blackpool are braced for an improved offer for Bowler, who is in the final year of his contract.

Forest, who have already signed 18 new players this summer, are long-term admirers of Bowler and tried to sign him in the January transfer window.

As quoted by the Blackpool Gazette on Tuesday (30 August), Michael Appleton insisted he was “relaxed” about the future of the former Everton player.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Bowler’s performances have not suffered this season.

He has found the net twice in six Championship appearances this season, bringing his tally to 10 goals in 51 games for Blackpool.

They are next in action on Wednesday night (31 August) when they host Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers and Appleton has hinted Bowler could still feature in the game.

Forest have been the busiest Premier League club this summer as they look to rebuild their squad after winning promotion to the Premier League.

Renan Lodi became their latest addition on Monday (29 August) when he arrived on loan with an option to buy from Atletico Madrid.

Steve Cooper has bolstered his attacking ranks with the likes of Jesse Lingard, Taiwo Awoniyi, Morgan Gibbs-White and Emmanuel Denis.

They have only won one of their opening four Premier League games and travel to champions Man City on Wednesday night (31 August).

In other news, Middlesbrough have made a move to sign a Nottingham Forest 24-year-old.
