Sources: Carlos Corberan leaves Huddersfield Town

Carlos Corberan has left Huddersfield Town, Football Insider understands.

The Spaniard, 39, came within a whisker of guiding the Championship club to the Premier League after finishing third in last season’s league table.

A Huddersfield source has told Football Insider that Corberan is no longer the club’s manager as of this morning (7 July).

Huddersfield

The former Leeds assistant manager was appointed in the summer of 2020 after three years at Elland Road.

After a difficult first campaign in charge where the Terriers finished just six points above the relegation zone, they were transformed in 2021-22.

They finished third in the Championship before reaching the play-off final where they were narrowly defeated by Nottingham Forest.

Huddersfield had two strong calls for a penalty turned down by referee Jon Moss who was officiating his final game before retirement.

The club have been active in the transfer market this summer in an attempt to go one better in 2022-23.

David Kasuma and Connor Mahoney became their second and third signings of the summer on Wednesday (6 July).

They had already added defender Will Boyle on a free transfer from Cheltenham Town.

Huddersfield

Huddersfield get their pre-season fixtures underway next week (12 July) with the visit of Morecambe but will have to do so without Corberan.

He is set to end his spell in charge of Town with a win rate of 38.2 per cent from 102 games across all competitions.
