Sources: Celtic making contact with Ange Postecoglou over extraordinary return
Celtic will sound out Ange Postecoglou about his interest in sensationally returning as manager, sources have told Football Insider.
The former Hoops boss, who was dismissed by Nottingham Forest last week, is the bookies’ favourite to replace Brendan Rodgers following his resignation on Monday night.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Postecoglou was “open” to returning to Glasgow, where he had great success in his time as manager.
Celtic are set to make contact with the Australian about what would be an extraordinary twist following his two Premier League sackings in four months at Forest and Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou to replicate Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon
Remarkably, Postecoglou would be the third consecutive manager at the club to have a second spell in charge, echoing his two predecessors, Rodgers and Neil Lennon.
The 60-year-old took over after Lennon’s departure in 2021 and had two very successful seasons with the Hoops until he left to join Tottenham in the summer of 2023.
Rodgers, who fell out with the Celtic board before his resignation, replaced Postecoglou at Parkhead at the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign.
The Northern Irishman guided the Glasgow giants to their third and fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership titles during his two campaigns at the helm.
However, Celtic are now at risk of relinquishing their crown to Hearts, who are eight points clear at the top of the table.
Postecoglou’s reputation in tatters
Postecoglou confirmed his status as a top manager during his first spell at Celtic, winning a domestic treble in his final season at the club.

However, since his departure from Celtic, his reputation as a manager has nosedived.
Despite winning the Europa League with Tottenham, he guided them to an abysmal 17th-place finish in the Premier League during his final season in charge
With his spell at Nottingham Forest also ending in disaster, his stock has never been lower.
Now, Celtic could give Postecoglou a much-needed chance to get his career back on track.
