Sources: Clubs lining up to sign Newcastle star Lascelles
Multiple clubs are interested in luring club captain Jamaal Lascelles away from Newcastle United this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (3 July) that the 29-year-old will have a decision to make on his Magpies future before the 2023-24 campaign gets underway.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Newcastle feel the “time is right” for Lascelles to move on if he wants regular first-team football.
It is believed opportunities will be hard to come by for the centre-back in the 2023-24 campaign despite the addition of Champions League fixtures to Newcastle’s schedule.
Eddie Howe’s side are on the hunt for defensive reinforcements in the summer window as they look to build on last season’s fourth-place finish.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (4 July) that Newcastle hope to land Sporting CP centre-back Goncalo Inacio for a fee below his £51.5million release clause.
Sources also told Football Insider on Tuesday that the Magpies are interested in England international Marc Guehi – with Crystal Palace placing a £60million price tag on his head.
Any such arrival would push Lascelles further down the pecking order at St James’ Park.
Nonetheless, the defender remains an important figure on Tyneside and is a big influence in the dressing room.
Lascelles made just 11 appearances across all competitions last season following the arrivals of Sven Botman and Dan Burn in 2022.

He has racked up 225 appearances for Newcastle since joining the club from Nottingham Forest in 2014, netting 14 goals.
Newcastle have already allowed Ciaran Clark, Chris Wood and Matty Longstaff to leave the club so far this summer.
