Sources: Conte gives green light for Tottenham transfer

Antonio Conte has given the green light for Tottenham to offload Giovani Lo Celso in the final week of the window, Football Insider understands.

The Argentina midfielder, 25, took to Instagram to insist he is in “100 per-cent good physical condition” after he was left out of the matchday squad for Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Conte and club chiefs have told Lo Celso and his representatives he is free to find a new club this month.

The Londoners will listen to permanent and loan offers for the Argentine, although a loan move is considered to be the most likely of the two.

It is believed Conte has made up his mind on Lo Celso after growing frustrated at his inability to follow tactical instructions.

There is also frustration behind the scenes about the experienced international’s personal preparation for training and matches away from the club.

Lo Celso joined Spurs from Real Betis on an initial loan in the summer of 2019 that become permanent in January 2020.

He has proved poor value for a transfer that has cost over £40million as well as wages believed to be well in excess of £100,000-a-week.

Lo Celso has made 19 appearances for Spurs this season but he has started only two Premier League matches.

His record for his club pales in comparison to his form for Argentina, where he is a key player and regular starter.

In other news, “huge” Tottenham transfer update as one new signing all but done and talks underway over three others.
