Sources: Crystal Palace make updated Oliver Glasner sack decision

Crystal Palace are unlikely to sack Oliver Glasner in the near future despite a dismal run of form and growing discontent at Selhurst Park.

Glasner‘s side struggled to a 1-1 draw against ten-man Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, meaning they have now gone 12 games without a win in all competitions.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Palace still hope to stick with the boss until his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Austrian had already confirmed he will leave the club in the summer, leading many in the Selhurst Park crowd to call for his early departure.

While Glasner has insisted his focus remains fully on Crystal Palace, a run of 12 games without a win could be enough for any manager to face intense scrutiny.

Oliver Glasner sack update at Crystal Palace

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace could sack Glasner if results to not drastically improve in the coming weeks.

A draw against Forest could see the Eagles sucked into a relegation battle, although Chelsea did them a favour coming from two goals begin to beat West Ham 3-2 on Saturday.

However, with the Eagles still in pursuit of the Conference League trophy and with aims to pull clear of the relegation battle, they feel Glasner is the best man for the job.

As I explained on the Transfer Insider podcast, “I would be surprised if he was to be sacked before he leaves when his contract runs out, but you just never know.

“Obviously Palace are looking over their shoulders right now in that relegation battle.

“It was a big game against Nottingham Forest this week as well and a defeat there could have really dragged them in to trouble.

“Palace cleared the air with Glasner after his unhappiness over Marc Guehi being sold.

“Palace right now want to keep with Glasner. He’s had great success there.

“They’ve still got a chance of winning the Europa Conference League and obviously, Palace have been hit by a few injuries as well.

Glasner has had great success at Palace. They feel he is the man to ensure they don’t get dragged into this relegation battle and they’ll be sticking by him.”

Crystal Palace close to double-signing announcement

Jean-Philippe Mateta is closing in on leaving Crystal Palace after an agreement with AC Milan, after he made clear his desire to leave earlier this window.

This comes after Football Insider first revealed in November that AC Milan were keeping tabs on Mateta with a potential mid-season move in mind.

Both Nottingham Forest and Juventus have seen offers turned down by Palace in recent weeks, but AC Milan now look to have won the race.

Alongside that deal, Crystal Palace are closing in on signing Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves after reaching an agreement worth an initial £43million.

It will be the latest record signing for the Eagles, who broke their previous record with the £35million signing of Brennan Johnson at the start of the January window.
