Sources: Huddersfield open talks to sign Cardiff City winger Josh Murphy
Huddersfield Town are in talks to sign Cardiff City winger Josh Murphy on a free transfer, Football Insider understands.
Josh, twin brother of Newcastle’s Jacob Murphy, is a free agent after seeing out his contract at Cardiff this summer.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Huddersfield are leading the chase for the 27-year-old former Norwich man.

Negotiations over a potential deal are now underway as the Championship club lay the foundations for a promotion challenge next season.
The winger spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Preston North End – but managed just 14 appearances across all competitions for the Lancashire side as his campaign was blighted by injury.
He failed to start a game for the Deepdale club.
Murphy returned to Cardiff before the Championship season even concluded – with a report from Lancs Live suggesting the star’s “punctuality” and “attitude” was a driving force behind that decision.
The winger started his professional career alongside his brother at Norwich City, coming through the ranks in East Anglia and making 107 appearances for the club.
He joined Cardiff in 2018 for a reported £11million but could not prevent the Bluebirds’ relegation from the Premier League.
Murphy has made 99 appearances for the Welsh side in total, scoring 14 goals.

Huddersfield missed out on promotion to the Premier League in the 2021/22 season after losing in the play-off final against Nottingham Forest last month.
The Terriers have already completed the signing of Cheltenham defender Will Boyle during the summer window.
