Sources: Huddersfield Town plot approach for MK Dons boss Liam Manning

Huddersfield Town are plotting an approach for MK Dons boss Liam Manning, sources have told Football Insider.

Carlos Corberan stunned Huddersfield when he resigned from his role as manager on Thursday just a few months after leading them to the Championship play-off final.

Huddersfield are now beginning their search for a replacement and highly-rated Manning is thought to figure highly on their wanted list.

The 36-year-old, who was linked with the QPR job earlier this summer, is regarded as one of the brightest young coaches in the country after impressing at MK Dons last season.

Manning led the Dons to third in League One during his first season in charge.

He narrowly missed out on gaining promotion to the Championship after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Wycombe Wanderers in the play-off semi-finals.

The League One club appoint Manning as their manager in August 2021.

The Englishman has previously been the manager of Lommel SK, New York City’s academy and West Ham under-23s.

A move to Huddersfield Town would be Manning’s first experience of managing in the Championship.

Whoever takes over at the John Smith’s Stadium will be faced with the difficult task of replacing Carlos Corberan.

The former assistant manager of Leeds United led the Terriers to a third-placed finish in the Championship last season.

They then reached the play-off final where they were narrowly defeated by Nottingham Forest.
