Sources: Hull City in advanced talks to sign Ryan Giles in loan-to-buy deal after Leeds make move
Hull City are in advanced talks with Luton Town over a potential loan deal for Ryan Giles, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed discussions are centering around an initial temporary deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the agreement.
Football Insider revealed last week (18 January) that Leeds United have enquired about taking Luton’s Giles, 23, on loan this month.
But Hull are now in pole position to agree a deal ahead of the Yorkshire giants.
The left-back has featured sparingly for Rob Edwards’ side in the Premier League so far this season.
Giles has made 14 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign – seven of which have come as part of the starting lineup.
He only joined Luton from Wolves on a permanent basis last summer (2023) but hasn’t been able to hold down a regular spot in the Hatters’ starting lineup.
Alfie Doughty has kept Giles out of the side with a series of impressive performances in the top flight.
Nevertheless, Giles is a proven operator at Championship level and made 48 appearances on loan at Middlesbrough last term – notching 12 assists.
He has racked up 119 second-tier appearances in total across spells with Boro, Blackburn, Cardiff, Rotherham and Coventry.

Hull City have already wrapped up the signings of Ivor Pandur, Fabio Carvalho and Billy Sharp so far this month.
The Tigers sit seventh in the table and are aiming to bolster their playoff credentials with new arrivals.
