Sources: Illan Meslier wants to quit Leeds United even if they stay up as Chelsea plot revealed
Illan Meslier is keen to quit Leeds United even if they stay in the Premier League next season, sources have told Football Insider.
Meslier has been watched by Chelsea on multiple occasions and is of major interest to the London club.
The 23-year-old’s contract runs until 2026 after he signed an extension in 2021.
Yesterday (12 April), Football Insider revealed that Leeds have now slapped a £40million price tag on their star keeper ahead of the summer window.
Tottenham and Man United have shown interest in the shot-stopper but Chelsea are very keen to get a deal over the line in the summer.
The Frenchman is one of three senior players set to quit if the club are demoted to the Championship next season.
It is now believed that Meslier will look to quit even if they stay in the English top flight next season.
The Whites are currently two points clear of the relegation zone with 29 points from 30 games.
But they still have to face Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle United and Tottenham all before the end of the season in their fight to stay up.
Meslier arrived at Elland Road from FC Lorient in July 2020 following a successful loan spell in Yorkshire.

Since his arrival in the north of England, the keeper has made 122 appearances for Leeds across all competitions.
Meslier has conceded 199 goals but kept 30 clean sheets in those outings.
In other news, Leeds United expected to make £36m profit on star forward.
