Sources: Jokanovic agrees deal to be new Sheffield United manager
Slavisa Jokanovic has agreed a deal to become the new Sheffield United manager, Football Insider understands.
The former Fulham boss has been offered the post after extensive talks with chiefs at Bramall Lane.
A Blades source has told Football Insider the 52-year-old should be announced as Chris Wilder’s permanent successor in the next 24 hours.
This site revealed Jokanovic had been interviewed for the United job earlier this month.
The Serbian manager is currently in charge of Qatari outfit Al-Gharafa SC but his contract is up at the end of June.
He joined the Middle Eastern side in 2019 and has won 25 of his 53 games in charge.
Former United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has told Football Insider Jokanovic would be a “sensational appointment” for the club.
The Serbian boss has already had two spells managing in England with Watford and Fulham.
He is perhaps best known for his time at Craven Cottage between 2015 and 2018.
The former Chelsea midfielder led the Cottagers to promotion from the Championship during the 2017/18 campaign.
However, he was sacked in November 2018 after winning just once in 12 Premier League games.
Jokanovic is now set to be tasked with securing another promotion at Sheffield United next season.
The Blades have been without a permanent manager since Chris Wilder’s departure back in March.
Paul Heckingbottom took interim charge of the club but failed to pull off what would have been a miraculous escape from relegation.
The Blades lost eight of their 11 games during Heckingbottom’s temporary spell in the dugout.
