Sources: Liverpool attacker reaches verbal agreement to join new club on five-year deal
Liverpool attacker Bobby Adekanye has reached a verbal agreement to join Lazio, Football Insider understands.
The Dutch youth international, 20, has been offered a five-year contract by the Serie A club worth £17,000-a-week before tax, around triple his Anfield salary.
A Lazio source has told Football Insider that Adekanye has accepted the terms on offer and is ready to put pen to paper on a deal that is set to be finalised before the summer window opens.
The versatile forward, who was in the youth set-ups of Barcelona, Ajax and PSV before joining Liverpool in his mid-teens, is set to join Lazio on a free transfer.
Football Insider revealed in the middle of last month that Adekanye was in advanced talks to move to Lazio after rejecting Liverpool’s offer of a new three-year contract.
The Merseysiders have responded by freezing the Nigeria-born youngster, who has been capped by Holland at Under-20 levels, out of their various youth teams.
Adekanye, who is predominantly a right-sided forward, was a regular for the Under-23s before the contract stalemate that has soured the end of his four-year spell at Liverpool.
