Sources: Liverpool have active interest in signing Kylian Mbappe after private talks
Liverpool are continuing to monitor the situation of long-term target Kylian Mbappe amid doubts over his long-term Paris Saint-Germain future, sources have told Football Insider.
The 24-year-old revealed in May 2022 that he spoke to the Merseyside giants about a potential move – before choosing to pledge his future to PSG until June 2025.
However, the World Cup winner has made publicly and privately clear his discontentment in the French capital since signing his new deal.
Reports from Fabrizio Romano emerged last year (11 October 2022) suggesting the forward wants to leave Paris “as soon as possible”.
Sources told Football Insider on Monday (20 February) that potential new owners of Man United could launch a sensational swoop for Mbappe to kick-start their Old Trafford reign.
It is also believed that free-spending Chelsea would be interested in signing the France international if he is to become available this summer.
However, all three Premier League giants are aware that a deal will be hard to complete – due to the finances involved in a potential swoop.
Mbappe reportedly earns more than £1.2million-a-week on his current PSG contract.
His discontentment has had no effect on his goalscoring form for the French giants as he is currently the joint-top scorer in Ligue 1.
He has notched 27 goals and six assists across 28 appearances as a key part of Christophe Galiter’s side.
This site revealed on Monday (20 February) that Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Mbappe’s teammate Neymar, 31, for a fee around £70-80million as PSG look to cash in this summer.

The Reds are still in the hunt for Champions League qualification this season.
The Merseysiders are seven points away from fourth-place Tottenham with two games in hand on the Lilywhites.
