Sources: Liverpool make new move for Perr Schuurs after Ajax reveal
Liverpool have set their sights on a new move for Perr Schuurs after previously showing an interest when he was at Ajax, sources told Football Insider.
The Reds are keen on landing the defender this summer and have held a long-term interest in him that dates back some time.
The Merseysiders thought about a move for Schuurs before he joined Torino last summer.
It is believed the 23-year-old would be interested in joining the Merseyside giants before the window shuts at the end of August.
Klopp wants to add more options to his defensive line up after a difficult 2022-23 campaign.
But the Merseysiders are unable to compete with other clubs for more expensive options having spent a combined £95m plus add-ons for Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboslai.
The Reds are also setting aside big funds for Southampton midfield kingpin Romeo Lavia, which further hinders their ability to spend big on a new central defender
On 8 July, Football Insider revealed that Liverpool are convinced the 19-year-old wants to join Anfield ahead of other suitors.
The Italian club reportedly paid around £7million for the defender last summer and his current contract runs until 2026.
Last week (3 July), Football Insider revealed that Jurgen Klopp’s side are in the market for a new centre-back this summer.

Klopp’s side are in talks to sign the midfielder but face strong competition from Premier League rivals including Arsenal and Chelsea.
The Reds are believed to be willing to offer around £40m for Lavia with the Saints holding out for a fee closer to £50m.
