Sources: Luton Town line up move for Wycombe Wanderers star Onyedinma

Luton Town are lining up a move for Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Fred Onyedinma, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 24-year-old has just one year left on his contract with the Chairboys, who have just been relegated to League One after one season in the second tier.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Luton hope to persuade the midfielder to move back to the Championship this summer.

Onyedinma was one of Wycombe’s key performers last season and contributed five goals and four assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.

He played a pivotal role in Gareth Ainsworth’s side’s turnaround in form in the latter stages of the campaign.

Wycombe won five of their last eight Championship fixtures and Onyedinma started all of those victories.

A product of Millwall’s academy, Onyedinma made his debut for the Lions in January 2014 against Southend United in the FA Cup.

He went on to make 151 appearances for Millwall before completing a permanent switch to Adams Park in July 2019.

Since the move he has established himself as an integral member of Gareth Ainsworth’s squad and he has racked up 114 appearances across all competitions for the club.

Luton Town are looking to strengthen their squad after an impressive season which saw them finish 12th in the Championship in just their second season back in the second tier.

Onyedinma can operate from both the left and the right flank and his versatility could provide useful to Hatters boss Nathan Jones next season.
