Sources: Major Skipp injury update ahead of Tottenham showdown v Crystal Palace today

Tottenham are increasingly confident Oliver Skipp can feature against Crystal Palace today after missing out for England in midweek due to injury, Football Insider understands.

The midfielder, 20, broke down with a groin injury in the England Under-21 win over Kosovo in midweek.

That has led to fears he will miss out in the 12.30pm Premier League clash against Palace, with Nuno Espirito Santo admitting he is a doubt.

But a Spurs source has told Football Insider that Skipp trained fully on Friday and there is growing hope he can take his place in the starting line-up for the first of this weekend’s top-flight matches.

That would be a big boost to Nuno Espirito Santo, who is also waiting on injury updates on Son Heung-Min and Steven Bergwijn.

Skipp has started all three of Spurs’ Premier League matches this season since returning from his outstanding Norwich City loan spell.

Ex-Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho made no attempt to hide his admiration for Skipp, who he called “phenomenal” and a “future Spurs captain”.

He is regarded by the club’s coaches as their finest academy product since Harry Winks.

Ironically, Skipp has also showed signs he will replace the England international as a fixture in the team.

Spurs will be missing South American trio Davinson Sanchez, Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero for the London derby.

They are training in Croatia to avoid having to quarantine on their return from red-list countries.

Sessegnon is already out of the visit to Selhurst Park after feeling his problematic hamstring in England Under-21 training and withdrawing from the squad.

In other news, Ndombele saga is ending badly for Tottenham after ‘very strange’ update.
