Sources: Major update on Aston Villa bid to sign Miles Leaburn
Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Charlton Athletic sensation Miles Leaburn this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that many Premier League scouts have regularly watched the 19-year-old in action for the Addicks this season.
Leaburn has impressed for Charlton in his breakthrough season at the League One club.
The former Chelsea trainee, who stands at 6ft 5in, signed his first professional deal with the Addicks last summer (2022).
Leaburn, 19, was subsequently promoted to the first team and scored on his professional debut against Accrington on 30 July.
The forward has gone on to notch 12 goals and three assists across 36 in all competitions this season.
He enjoyed a hot streak of form between March and the beginning of April, scoring five goals in four League One games.
Leaburn, who is the son of former Charlton striker Carl, is out of contract at The Valley in June 2025.
The striker is not the only young talent Aston Villa are targeting as the summer window approaches.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (17 April) that Villa are working on hijacking Leeds United’s deal for Hearts sensation James Wilson.
The Midlands giants also spent big money in January to bring 19-year-old Colombian international striker Jhon Duran to the club.

Duran, who cost a reported initial fee of £14.5million, is the backup to red-hot striker Ollie Watkins as Villa push for European qualification this season.
Emery’s side sit sixth in the Premier League after their rich vein of recent form, which has seen them win six of their last seven games.
