Sources: Major update on Sterling potentially quitting Man City for Tottenham after £80m twist

Raheem Sterling has no interest in quitting Man City for Tottenham this summer, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to the north London club as part of a potential part-exchange deal for Harry Kane.

But a City source has told Football Insider that Sterling has no intention of being a makeweight in any Kane bid, or in a surprise move to Spurs.

The wide forward would only be open to leaving the Etihad Stadium if it were to a Champions League heavyweight capable of competing for major trophies.

Nonetheless, Sterling’s future at City is not as secure as it once was as he enters the final two years of his contract.

The source told Football Insider that Pep Guardiola is willing to sell the speedster if his £80million valuation is met.

This comes as the Premier League champions step up their pursuit of Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish.

City’s chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has vowed to “send out a strong message” to his club’s rivals in the transfer market.

In an interview with club media, he insisted now “is not the time to sit back and be content”.

Sterling has been one of Manchester City’s standout performers under Pep Guardiola.

He scored over 20 goals in each of Guardiola’s first three full seasons in charge of City but struggled somewhat in the 2020-21 campaign.

The England international did not start any of City’s Champions League quarter-final or semi-final legs with Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden preferred out wide.
