Sources: Man City told ‘£70m’ Morgan Gibbs-White offer will be accepted

Man City are among the clubs plotting a move to sign Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of the summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola‘s side have been long-term admirers of the 26-year-old and could step up their interest, although they will not be alone in their pursuit.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, the England midfielder could be available for a fee of £60-70million this summer.

After what has been a dismal season at the City Ground, Gibbs-White could be tempted to move on, with the opportunity to play in the Champions League set to appeal.

Tottenham remain interested after he snubbed them in favour of signing a new deal at Forest last year, while Man City may be tempted to reignite their long-standing interest.

Football Insider revealed in May 2025 that Gibbs-White was interested in joining Man City and was flattered by the interest from Guardiola’s side.

Despite opting to remain at Forest on a bumper new deal until 2028, there is a growing feeling he could finally be set to move on this summer.

Vitor Pereira’s side remain determined to keep hold of him, however, meaning any deal will be expensive as they aim to make a significant profit on his sale.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Yeah, it’s gonna be an interesting one with regards to Morgan Gibbs-White’s long term future.

“There’s always going to be interest in a player like Gibbs-White. Although Forrest won’t want to lose him, I’m sure they’ll probably will be expecting interest in him.

“There’s obviously talk that Tottenham could rekindle their interest, Manchester City have been long-term admirers of the player as well.

“I think Morgan Gibbs-White, he’s going to have no shortage of interest if he wants to leave Nottingham Forest as well, but it’ll take a big money deal to get him out.

“Whether or not Forest are relegated, you’re probably looking around the £60-70m mark for any club interested in Gibbs-White, and there will be a number of Premier League clubs who will be interested in the former Wolves man.”

Jack Grealish update emerges as Man City stance revealed

Gibbs-White is not the only England international attacking midfielder being spoken about at Man City ahead of the summer, amid speculation surrounding Jack Grealish.

Everton are keen to extend his stay at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, despite him having suffered a foot injury which has put an early end to his loan spell.

Despite a loan deal being the preference for Everton as things stand, City would likely prefer a permanent sale given his contract situation.

This is something Moyes’s side would also be open to, but they will not pay the £50million release clause, with negotiations ongoing over a potential new fee.

Football Insider revealed on 13 February that Everton could sign Grealish for £20million, a discounted price from the original agreement with City.
