Sources: Man United plotting to sign Gabri Veiga after rave reviews from scouts
Man United are keeping tabs on Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga ahead of a potential summer move, sources have told Football Insider.
The Red Devils have launched several scouting missions on the 20-year-old, who is enjoying a breakthrough season in Spain with Celta.
United are in the market for a new central midfielder this summer, and United scouts have returned a number of rave reviews about Veiga’s performances this season.
Marcel Sabitzer joined United on loan from Bayern Munich in January and remains the club’s top midfield priority for a permanent move, but Veiga is also on the midfield shortlist in case other moves fall through.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (7 April) that United are now keen to sign Sabitzer on a permanent deal.
Veiga made his first-team debut for Celta in 2020 but only became a regular starter for the side this season.
He scored his first senior goal in September 2022 in a 4-1 loss to Atletico Madrid, and has since increased his goal tally to nine in 30 matches in 2022/23,
Veiga has also registered four assists this season, all of which have come in La Liga.

Celta president Carlos Mourino recently revealed that there are ‘multiple’ clubs chasing Veiga, and that the midfielder has a release clause in his contract worth £35million.
It is understood that Real Madrid have shown interest in signing Veiga this summer, while Arsenal and Newcastle United have also been linked to the creative midfielder.
