Sources: Man United respond after Newcastle submit formal £5m-plus Lingard bid
Man United have rejected a £5million-plus Newcastle United loan bid for Jesse Lingard, Football Insider understands.
The Premier League giants are willing to offload the 29-year-old in this month’s window but are holding out for a permanent deal.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider this morning that Newcastle have submitted a loan offer to United worth more than £5million but it has been knocked back.

Lingard is believed to be very interested in joining the north-east big spenders and has been impressed by the ambition they have shown already this month.
He has rejected a new United contract and has set his sights on leaving the club when his contract expires this summer.
Since returning to Old Trafford, Lingard has struggled for game time.
He has made 14 appearances in all competitions but only two of these outings have been starts.
If the Magpies can agree a deal for the attacker, they will hope he can find the form he discovered at West Ham last season.
Lingard scored nine goals and provided four assists during his brief spell at the London Stadium.
Newcastle are desperate for new recruits after failing to see a new manager bounce following the appointment of Eddie Howe.

The Toon remain only two points from safety but have still only won one game this season.
They are next in action against Leeds United on Saturday (22 January) in a game that could have massive ramifications in the relegation battle.
In other news, a finance guru has claimed Newcastle United are plotting their ‘next big appointment’ after new chief is revealed.
