Sources: Man United told £40m could seal Axel Disasi deal
Man United have been told that defender Axel Disasi is valued by Monaco at £40million, sources have told Football Insider.
The 25-year-old centre-back has been scouted thoroughly by United this season and has emerged as a top target for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Football Insider sources revealed on Sunday (16 April) that Man United are in pole position to sign Disasi this summer amid ‘huge’ claim.
Disasi has two years remaining on his contract and Monaco are open to selling him this summer provided their £40million valuation is met.
Chelsea and Man City have also registered interest in Disasi, but United lead the race for his signature ahead of their Premier League rivals.
United were expected to accelerate their search for a new centre-back after Lisandro Martinez’s injury against Sevilla, but they have since been boosted by the news that he will return ahead of next season.
On top of the Martinez situation, Harry Maguire, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly all face uncertain futures at the club and so reinforcements could be crucial in the summer to bolster the side’s defensive department.
Disasi has risen towards the top of United’s defensive shopping alongside Napoli centre-back Kim Min-Jae.
Football Insider sources revealed in March that Kim has a £43million release clause active for two weeks in July.

Disasi has made 41 appearances for Monaco this season across all competitions, scoring six and assisting four times.
He has appeared in all 30 Ligue Un matches this season for Monaco, helping the side climb up to fourth in the league table.
