Sources: Newcastle to announce Bruno Guimaraes deal after breakthrough

Newcastle United are expected to announce a new deal for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes at the end of the campaign, sources have told Football Insider.

The club are keen to nail down their star man in the coming weeks, which should end with the huge prize of Champions League football.

The club have no intention of accepting any offers for Guimaraes, who has been linked with Premier League rivals this term.

Guimaraes, 25, has been in talks over what is expected to be a new and improved five-year contract, and sources say all indications are that it is all but wrapped up and will be announced in the coming weeks.

Talks began in March and, despite concerns that there has been no real updates since then, all parties are calm and confident that everything is now in place following a recent breakthrough.

Reports have suggested Liverpool will launch a near-£85million bid for the Brazil international – however, Football Insider understands that is not correct.

Newcastle have no interest in the idea of bids being entertained for the 25-year-old are being dismissed by the hierarchy at St James Park.

The club value him much higher than £85m and he is central to long-term plans.

Since signing in January of last year for £36m, he has made 52 appearances for the club and become a key figure in Eddie Howe’s side.

In other news, Newcastle United 60m bid will be accepted.
