Sources: Newcastle United blocked from signing Solly March as new deal agreed
Brighton have blocked Newcastle United in their approach for Solly March by agreeing a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.
The Tyneside club had been keeping tabs on the 28-year-old as they look to improve their attacking output, but will now find it incredibly hard to strike a deal with the winger after he extended his stay at Brighton.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (17 March) that March is in advanced talks with Brighton over a new contract.

The deal was later confirmed on Brighton’s official club website, with March signing on until 2026 with the option to extend for a further year.
Brighton made a new deal for March top priority after learning of Newcastle’s interest in signing the Englishman.
Roberto De Zerbi labelled it “great news” adding that “Solly deserves this new contract. We are all happy for him and I am happy for him because I want all the great players to stay with me.”
March has played his entire professional career with Brighton after making his debut with the club back in 2011.
During his 12 years on the south coast, March has made 266 appearances across all competitions while scoring 21 and assisting 27 goals.

Brighton’s No.7 is currently enjoying the most productive campaign of his career after scoring seven and assisting four in 25 appearances this season.
Newcastle remain big admirers of March, but admit a deal is now increasingly unlikely due to his long-term future being secured at Brighton.
