Sources: Nottingham Forest in advanced talks to sign Ibrahim Sangare

Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old has been a long-term target for Steve Cooper’s side, and the two parties are closing in on a £30million deal.

Football Insider understands that Sangare‘s representatives are currently in Greece meeting Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis to finalise an agreement.

The Ivory Coast international has a £30million release clause in his PSV contract that Forest are happy to meet.

Sangare has been closely watched by Forest in recent seasons, and multiple other Premier League clubs have also shown interest in the defensive midfielder.

However, confidence is now growing around the City Ground that Forest will win the race for Sangare’s signature.

Sangare was a standout player for PSV in the 2022/23 season, playing over 3,700 minutes across 45 total appearances.

He scored eight goals and assisted three times to help the Dutch side achieve a second-placed finish in Eredivisie ahead of rivals Ajax.

Sangare started his career at French outfit Toulouse, graduating to the club’s first team in 2016 before going on to make 86 appearances for the Ligue Un side.

He signed a five-year deal with PSV after completing a move to the Netherlands in 2020 and has helped the side to win the KNVB Cup on two occasions, including last season.

Sangare has also shone on the international stage, scoring nine times in 31 caps for Ivory Coast.
