Sources: Nottingham Forest star McKenna in bust-up with owners
All signs now point to Scott McKenna leaving Nottingham Forest this year after a bust-up with the club’s owners, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that McKenna, 27, was frozen out of the Forest squad after a contract dispute between the defender’s agent and the club hierarchy led by Evangelos Marinakis and his son Miltiadis.
The Scotland international last played for the City Ground club in the 1-1 draw against Burnley on 18 September.

McKenna has just six months left to run on his Nottingham Forest contract, meaning the January transfer window is the last chance for the club to cash in on the defender.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that there will be “no way back” for the defender at Forest despite the recent appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo, who succeeded Steve Cooper.
Club captain Joe Worrall was also forced to train separately to his teammates at a different time earlier this season but has returned to the fold under Nuno.
McKenna had turned out five times in the Premier League this season – starting in all five of those outings.
He has been at Nottingham Forest since 2020 and was a key man when they were promoted via the playoffs in the 2021-22 campaign.
The left-footer has turned out 105 times in total for Forest since joining from Aberdeen, notching three goals and four assists.

Moussa Niakhate, Willy Boly and Murillo have all played regularly for the City Ground side in McKenna’s absence.
Espirito Santo’s side sit 15th in the table on 20 points following the win over Man United on Saturday (30 December).
