Sources: Nottingham Forest star Serge Aurier now set to sign for new club in next days

Serge Aurier’s proposed move to Galatasaray has been rekindled and he is now set to leave Nottingham Forest, sources have told Football Insider.

The 31-year-old has until the close of the Turkish window on 9 February to seal a move despite England’s window slamming shut on Thursday (1 February).

Reports had suggested Aurier’s switch to the Istanbul giants was close to collapse.

It is believed that the problem did not come from the Nottingham Forest end – with Nuno Espirito Santo happy to let him leave.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the right-back’s exit is “likely” to go through in the next week.

That is despite his presence at the African Cup of Nations as Ivory Coast’s captain, with Les Elephants reaching the quarter-final of the competition.

Forest are well-stocked at right-back despite Aurier’s imminent departure – with Gonzalo Montiel, Ola Aina and Neco Williams all still on the books.

The ex-Tottenham star, who is under contract at the City Ground until June, has played 13 times across all competitions for the Midlands side so far in the 2023-24 campaign.

He is yet to feature under new boss Espirito Santo after being sidelined with a calf strain up until the start of the African Cup of Nations.

Aurier joined Forest on a free transfer in September 2022 and has made 41 appearances for the club.

The Midlands giants sit 16th in the Premier League table and sealed three deadline-day signings.
