Sources: Peterborough open talks to re-sign Huddersfield star Brown

Peterborough United are in talks to re-sign Huddersfield Town midfielder Reece Brown for a third time, Football Insider understands.

Brown, 25, has previously had two loan spells at Peterborough in the second half of the 2019-20 season and for the entire 2020-21 campaign.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Peterborough have continued to keep tabs on Brown and are hoping to bring him back to London Road to aid their survival.

The attacking central midfielder has found himself down the pecking order at Huddersfield since his return to the club and has yet to feature this season.

He has only been included in two matchday squads for the Terriers, both of which came in August.

Peterborough are keen to take advantage of his situation and have opened discussions over a late-window move back to London Road.

Brown already has 54 appearances under his belt for the Posh after loan spells during the 2019/20 and 2020/21 campaigns.

He played 43 times across all competitions last season as he helped Peterborough secure promotion from League One.

However, Darren Ferguson’s men have struggled in the second tier and currently sit 22nd in the table.

The Peterborough boss believes Brown can help strengthen the midfield and boost their survival hopes.

A graduate of the Birmingham City youth ranks, Brown played 20 times for the Blues before leaving on a free transfer.

He joined Forest Green Rovers in 2017 and played 94 times for the League Two outfit.

Huddersfield signed him on a free in 2019, although he has spent most of his time on loan at Peterborough.

He has only played once for the Terriers to date.
